2013results_2-13.jpg   TAMPA, FL (February 13, 2013) – Dennis Erb Jr. continues to have a spectacular Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series DART Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park as he won tonight’s rain-shortened main event. Erb took the lead at the start of the scheduled 35-lapper, but with 27 laps scored, the final caution came out for rain and the race was declared “official” shortly thereafter.   Erb, in his JL Scrap Metals and McBride Mack sponsored, Bloomquist Race Cars entry, started on the pole and was in control for most of the race. Tyler Reddick passed Eric Jacobsen late in the race to finish second. Jacobsen came home third followed by Mike Marlar and Jimmy Owens.   “This week has been unbelievable so far! We have never had this good of a start down here [East Bay]! I have to thank all my sponsors and Heather (Lyne) for their support. We have been fast ever since we unloaded here, the track has been great all three nights!” said the 40-year-old driver, who had to wait through a three and a half rain delay following the second heat.   Reddick managed to slip by Jacobsen just before the rain began to fall. He was gaining ground on the leader when the call was made to end the race. “It was the right call, glad we didn’t start tearing up a bunch of cars with a wet track. We were really good tonight. When I finally got by Eric, I was hoping for a caution, we got one! Unfortunately thought, it was for the rain,” said the driver of the Broken Bow Records, Gaerte Race Engines, and Bloomquist Race Cars Chevy.   Jacobsen, who is still seeking his first-ever win at East Bay and on the LOLMDS tour trailed Erb for most of the race. He never let him out of his sights, but Erb was able to pull away after a lap 13 caution. “Dennis was really good; it was a great night for the Bloomquist cars! We swept the top three and we are getting really close to that first win,” said the driver of the Ohlins, Bell Helmets, and Roush-Yates Ford. In preliminary action, Dennis Erb Jr. set the overall Red Buck Fast Time (Group B) amongst the 43 entrants, with a lap of 14.369 seconds. Mike Marlar set the fastest time in Group A with a time of 14.428 seconds. Dennis Erb Jr., Eric Jacobsen, Mike Marlar, and won their respective Heat Races. Eddie Carrier and Todd Frank won their respective B-Mains. Justin Rattliff was the PRC Strawberry Dash- Draw Winner.   The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt series will be back every night this week with more high-flying action from the 37th Annual DART Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL. 2013results_2-11.jpg   TAMPA, FL (February 11, 2013) – Defending DART Winternationals Champion, Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, IL kicked off the 2013 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season with a clean sweep of events on Monday Night. Erb was the Red Buck Fast Qualifier; won his heat race to earn the outside front row starting spot and led every lap to win the main event. He earned $5,000 for the win. Erb in his J&L Scrap Metals, Kuntz and Company powered Bloomquist Race Cars #28 earned his third career win at the “Clay by the Bay” by holding off 2-time series champion, Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN at the finish line. Bloomquist made a last-lap dash and came up one car-length short of victory. Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN held off another veteran, Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH to claim third. Bobby Pierce of Oakwood, IL rounded out the top five in his best-ever East Bay finish. “What can I say; the car was terrific all night! I didn’t realize I had qualified that fast, they said we nearly broke the track record. To lead the laps we did and to beat Scott, takes a great effort,” said Erb, who also thanked his Crew Chief Heather Lyne for her help. “She does a fabulous job, I couldn’t do this without her, and she knows exactly what to do to the car to make it faster! Tonight was just one of those nights where everything fell into place and was to our benefit.” “We had a good car all night,” said Bloomquist, who entered the event with five career wins at the 1/3rd mile oval. “The track was exceptional tonight, you could run anywhere on it, congrats to him (Erb), he drove a good race, it was one of our cars and we are happy about that.” O’Neal barely held off the 12th starting Moran to finish third in the Optima Batteries, MasterSbilt House Car. “Erb and Scott were real good tonight, we just have to go back and make some more adjustments for tomorrow night and come back even stronger, he (Moran) gave me a good-run there at the end, and I don’t know where he came from.” Pierce mixed it up with the veterans in only his third-career trip to East Bay. The 16-year-old ran as high as third before settling for a fifth-place finish. In preliminary action, Dennis Erb Jr. set the Red Buck Fast Time amongst the 42 entrants, with a lap of 14.173 seconds. Scott Bloomquist set the fastest time in Group A with a time of 14.441 seconds. Scott Bloomquist, Don O’Neal, Dennis Erb Jr., and Bobby Pierce won their respective Heat Races. 702687_591699297522498_1059265447_n.jpgWAYCROSS, GA (February 1, 2013) – A pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series drivers have dominated the racing action “down under” in Australia over the past month.  Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN and Steve Francis of Ashland, KY are undefeated in feature competition, with Owens wrapping up his trip this weekend. Francis captured the Australian National Title a year ago, and won every preliminary and feature event he participated in. He began this season’s trip back in December and ended his trip in late January. In commanding fashion, he led every lap in all of his events.  Francis, who will be piloting the Georgia Boot-sponsored, Barry Wright Race Cars #15, for Clint Bowyer Racing on the LOLMDS tour in 2013, drove for both Michael Holmes and Bruce McKenzie in Australia. The “Kentucky Colonel” kicked off the Wild West Tour on December 26th at Perth Motorplex in Kwinana, Western Australia. He quickly captured the opening preliminary feature event and then followed it up the following night by winning the main event.  Francis then ventured to Manjimup Speedway in Middlesex, Western Australia on December 29th. He ended up in victory lane once again after winning the feature event.  He wrapped up the Wild West Tour title by winning at Collie Speedway in Collie, Western Australia on January 5th, staying undefeated at that point of his trip. After taking a break, Francis arrived at Bunbury City Speedway in Bunbury, Western Australia for the Australian National Championship.  Again, he won the preliminary feature on January 11th. The next night, he continued to stay “red-hot” by claiming yet another main event triumph. On January 15th, he captured the feature win at Goulburn Speedway in Goulburn, AUS. With the win at Goulburn, he took home the New South Wales State Championship. His final event was at Sydney Speedway on January 25th and 26th.  Francis won the preliminary event on the 25th, and was scheduled to start on the pole of the finale on the 26th, but the race was rained out. Owens, the 2-time and defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion, raced at Mountain Dew Ice Raceway in Hobart, Tasmania driving for David Nichols.  Owens piloted the USA#1 car and won a preliminary feature on January 26th. He followed that up on January 27th by winning the 50-lap main event. The “Newport Nightmare” will conclude his trip down under with events at Bendigo Bank Arena in Latrobe, Australia on February 1st and 2nd. “We’re very proud to have a couple of our series drivers representing the US in other countries and doing well. Both Jimmy and Steve are great ambassadors for our sport and represent our country with great dignity and respect. We’re excited for their success and look forward to having them back with the series again in 2013,” stated Ritchie Lewis, Director, Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
