CORONA, CA (September 15, 2007)- The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series would like to ask the motorsports industry to remember two prominent figures associated with the series in their thoughts and prayers this week. Mike Swims, a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series consultant and VP/ General Manager of Dixie Speedway in Woodstock Georgia is currently in an Atlanta hospital facing serious health challenges. Mike Swims is highly respected in the dirt late model industry as one of the pioneers and founder of the Hav-A-Tampa Series. Swims has been working closely with the Lucas Oil Company for the past three years as a consultant for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and has been instrumental in the continued growth of the national touring series.

The 2005 and 2006 Lucas Oil Series Champion Earl Pearson Jr’s father, Earl Pearson Sr. is also suffering some serious health issues and is in a Jacksonville hospital this week. Pearson Sr. has been a long time supporter of the Lucas Oil Series and always well liked in the pits by his peers. His presence at the series events has been reduced this year due to health issues of his wife and mother of series champion Earl Pearson Jr.

“I want to thank everyone that has called on behalf of my father and wishing our family well wishes and encouragements. My dad is the main reason I have reached this point in my career and hopefully he can pull through and be at the races again soon”, stated Earl Pearson Jr. from his home in Jacksonville Florida.

Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series director Ritchie Lewis and the entire staff would like to wish both the Swims family and the Pearson Family well wishes and prayers as both families go through this tough time. “Mike Swims has been a great asset to the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and the entire motorsports industry. He is a great father, friend and leader to a lot of people and we all wish him well. Pearson Sr. has been a great supporter to our series and very well liked in the racing community and we wish his family well wishes as they go through time”, stated Ritchie Lewis.
