TAMPA, FL (February 6, 2007)- Two-time and defending Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion, Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL scored his first ever win at East Bay Raceway Park on Tuesday Night during the 31st Annual Winternationals for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series. Pearson’s win was his sixth career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series victory and his first driving for car owner, Bobby Labonte. Pearson took the lead at the beginning of the 30 lap $5,000 to win main event and led every lap. The 35 year old racer drove the LifeLong Locks, MOPAR, Lucas Oil Products, Sunoco Race Fuels, Allstar Performance, Dunn-Benson Motorsports, Larry Wallace Racing Engines, MasterSbilt Dodge Charger to victory lane over Steve Francis of Ashland, KY who finished second in his Valvoline/Custom Race Engines/Rocket GTO. Finishing third was Moss, TN’s Ricky Arms in the Tom Herron/Perfect Wall, Inc/MastersBilt GTO with Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN in the Jerry Jones/Jones Core/MasterSbilt Monte Carlo and Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, IL in the Bill Moyer/Car City/C.J. Rayburn Monte Carlo completing the top five drivers. A total of 92 entries were on hand for the second night of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series action at East Bay. Pearson drew the pole among the eight heat race winners as Terry Casey would line up beside him on the start. The caution came out with one lap scored for Damon Eller and then on the restart several cars were involved in a wreck in turn four. Two straight cautions came on lap three and four as the anxious drivers would see four cautions in the first four laps of the race. The race then settled for a run of 11 green flag laps with Pearson on the point followed by Francis, Casey, Arms and Don O’Neal. There was no movement in the top five until Dan Schlieper went around O’Neal on lap 11 for fifth. Pearson then started to work lapped traffic by lap 14 and then caution number five came out on lap 15 which would clear Pearson’s path in front of him. O’Neal got back into the top five on lap 16 passing Schlieper for that spot. The sixth and final caution came out on lap 20 for Casey who gave up a strong run as he slid to a stop in turn three after he had run several laps in that position with left front suspension damage. That moved Arms into third with O’Neal and Shannon Babb up to fourth and fifth with ten laps remaining in the race. On the restart Pearson would again pull away from Francis and set sail to the checkered flag as he would finally breakthrough at East Bay for his first ever win at the track in his home state. Francis finished a solid second followed by another impressive run for Arms who bettered his sixth place finish on opening night with a third place. O’Neal and Babb would round out the top five. Pearson in victory lane thanked all of sponsors and crew for their outstanding work with his new race team. “I want to thank my crew chief, Jason Fitzgerald, Matt and Regan and everybody else with Bobby Labonte Racing for this opportunity.” “I just wanted to get out in front and with the way the track was I knew it was important to get off to a good start, but then again we got off good last night, but we didn’t win.” Completing the top ten were Dan Schlieper, Matt Miller, Josh Richards, Anthony White and Donnie Moran. In preliminary action Billy Drake was the LifeLong Locks Fast Time Award Winner with a qualifying lap of 14.894 seconds. TAMPA, FL (February 5, 2007)-Rick Aukland of Zanesville, OH came from the seventh starting spot to take his first career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win on Monday Night at East Bay Raceway Park kicking off six straight nights of racing at the 1/3 mile track as the veteran driver earned $5,000 for his exciting win. Aukland survived a heated battle for the lead between himself, Dan Schlieper and Earl Pearson, Jr., Aukland a member of the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame showed his skills in his K&E Trucking/Chase Race Decals/Sweeney Services, Inc./Malcuit Race Engines/MasterSbilt GTO. Schlieper of Sullivan, WI finished a close second in his Miller Brothers Coal/Pro Power Engines/C.J. Rayburn Monte Carlo with Pearson coming home third in the Bobby Labonte Racing/LifeLong Locks/MasterSbilt Dodge Charger. Rounding out the top five were Josh Richards of Shinnston, WV in the Seubert Calf Ranches/Cornett Engines/Rocket Monte Carlo and Donnie Moran of Dresden, Oh in the Custom Cutters/Eddie’s Sunoco/MasterSbilt Monte Carlo. A total of 87 entries were on hand for the event, which marks the third straight year the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series has sanctioned the Winternationals at East Bay. Pearson appeared to be the man to beat early on roaring to a quick seven car length lead from his pole starting position. While Pearson was sprinting away from the field a battle for second was ongoing between Schlieper and Richards with Ricky Arms and Aukland in the top five. Those five stayed in the same running order until a caution came out for a slowed Doug Horton on lap seven. On the Delaware double file restart Pearson was on the point with Schlieper and Richards lined up side by side with Arms and Aukland doing the same behind them. On the restart Aukland stormed by on the outside to get the third spot with eight laps scored. With Pearson and Richards in front of him Aukland made his car stick in the middle as he went by Richards on the tenth circuit and then overtook Pearson for the lead a lap later. With Aukland in front Pearson and Schlieper would dice it out for second with the two going side by side for a couple of laps until Schlieper cleared Pearson on lap 12. Approaching the halfway mark of the race Aukland was showing the way with Schlieper, Pearson, Richards and Donnie Moran in the hunt. Aukland would hold the advantage until Pearson passed him for the point on lap 21. Pearson held the top spot for another lap until Aukland showed he was not going to be denied as he went to the lead again re- passing Pearson with seven laps remaining. Aukland then would have Schlieper breathing down his neck in the final four circuits with Schlieper trying his best to win the opening night event at East Bay for the second year in a row, but on this night it was all Aukland, who would thrill the crowd with his first win at East Bay in 12 years as he would cross the finish line first. Schlieper would out hustle Pearson for second with Richards finishing fourth in front of Moran. CALVERT CITY, KY (October 28, 2006)- Ricky Arms of Moss, TN picked up the biggest win of his racing career on Saturday Night as he won the 10th Annual Commonwealth Cup at the Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway.  The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event win for Arms was his first ever as he became the 17th different winner during the 2006 season for the Series.  The 37 year old won $10,000 for his efforts.  Arms was behind the wheel of the Tom Herron owned/Metal-Lite, Inc./Arms Body Shop/White's Total Performance/NAPA Auto Parts/Perfect Walls, Inc./Race Engine Design powered C.J. Rayburn Chevrolet Monte Carlo.  Despite an ill handling race car with severe front end damage Steve Francis of Ashland, KY managed to finish second in the Valvoline/Freeport Recycling Center/Rocket Dodge Charger with Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN finishing third in the Powell Motorsports/Baylor Trucking/Rocket Pontiac GTO.  Completing the top five were Dan Schlieper of Sullivan, WI in the Miller Brothers Coal/Hawkeye Trucking/C.J. Rayburn Monte Carlo and Chris Combs of Isom, KY in the Tim Short Automotive/D&D Dairy/Swartz GTO.  A total of 78 cars were on hand for the Series' season finale at the Sherri Heckenast promoted facility.   Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL was officially crowned the 2006 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series National Champion for the second season in a row.  Pearson won three Series events in '06 and had 19 top five finishes and 26 top ten finishes to win the title.  To go along with his Championship season on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series tour Pearson also captured three high profile events during the campaign including the $24,999 to win 99 event at Kentucky Lake Motor Speedway in late May, the $25,000 to win Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series sanctioned Hillbilly 100 Labor Day weekend at the Tyler County (WV) Speedway and the most prestigious race in dirt late model racing the $39,000 to win World 100 at Eldora (OH) Speedway in September.  Pearson drives for the Dunn-Benson Ford Motorsports Team which is owned by Carlton and Kemp Lamm from Dunn, NC and sponsored by Lucas Oil Products, Dunn-Benson Ford, Sunoco Race Fuels, K&N Engineering, Allstar Performance and the car is powered by a Larry Wallace Racing Engine.   Pearson and Brian Birkhofer would lead the 26 car starting field to the green with Birkhofer taking the lead from his outside front row starting spot with one lap scored.  Scott Bloomquist would go to third early on with Michael England and Don O'Neal making up the top five.  Pearson would pull even with Birkhofer as the two would run side by side on several occasions in the first five circuits of the race as O'Neal and England would also duke it out for fourth as those two would swap spots at least three times in the first part of the race.   Pearson would gain the advantage in the tight battle for the lead as he would take the top spot away from Birkhofer on the seventh lap as.England's night would end on lap seven as he would bring out the first caution of the race coming to a stop at the bottom of the track off of turn number two.  Greg Johnson then would become a member of the top five club as he would line up fifth on the restart.  Peyton Taylor in his first career Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series start would bring out caution number two on lap nine as his car came to halt in turn number three.   The race would get five good green flag laps in with Pearson in front followed by Birkhofer, Bloomquist, Johnson and 20th starting Steve Francis who both bypassed O'Neal on the 10th lap to take over fourth and fifth respectfully. Up front Birkhofer would make the outside work for him as he retook the lead from Pearson on lap 13.  The third caution of the race fell for O'Neal on lap 14, as caution number four would follow quickly a lap later for Dick Taylor.   On the restart to begin lap 16 Bloomquist would make his way to the front getting by both Birkhofer and Pearson to take over the lead.  Francis would charge some more with a head of steam as he moved into the runner-up slot behind Bloomquist on lap 17.  Caution number five and six would come out in back to back moments in the race with 18 laps scored.   On the restart Johnson would suffer a flat causing caution number seven on lap 20.  On the restart Bloomquist would still be shown the leader with Francis all over him for the lead.  A lap 24 caution for debris would halt Bloomquist's momentum again. Birkhofer was holding down the third spot at this point with 24th starting Russ Scheffler now in the mix as he was up to fourth with 17th place starter Dennis Erb, Jr. also on the move up to fifth.   Erb moved up another position on lap 27 overhauling Scheffler for fourth as he appeared to be the fastest car on the race track at this point of the event.  Scheffler's run would end in turn two on lap 29 as he brought out the caution. On the restart Bloomquist had everyone looking at his rear bumper with 20 laps to go.  Francis, Birkhofer, Erb and Donnie Moran were the top five behind Bloomquist with 30 laps complete.   Erb's night however would end on lap 32 as he went pitside putting him out of the race after running as high as fourth.  The jumbled top five would see Moran now fourth and Pearson back in the hunt in fifth.  The top five would stay the same as nine good green flag laps of racing would take place with Bloomquist holding a comfortable advantage over Francis and Birkhofer.   With 40 laps scored the complexion of the race would change completely as Bloomquist was entering lapped traffic. Bloomquist was preparing to lap Matt Miller when Miller would get sideways forcing Bloomquist to spin and as he nearly regained control of the car he stopped along with Moran.  Both Bloomquist and Moran were relegated to the tail as they both had stopped on the race track.  Bloomquist decided then that he would not continue in the race as he took his car to the pits.  Right before the caution flag Birkhofer exited the track with a smoking car giving up his third running position.   On the restart Francis would be on the point. But Francis had been doing a tremendous job of driving his car as the front nosepiece of his mount was ripped off on the left side and the rest of it would be dragging under the front of his car making handling almost impossible. Ricky Arms would be the beneficiary of the restart as he would line up second beside third place running Scott James who had to take a provisional to make the race after a heat race incident. Arms and James, who started 25th on the grid would have Jason Feger and Schlieper lined up behind them on the restart.   With a high rate of attrition Arms' main focus was passing Francis for the lead which he did after Francis' car drifted up the race track on lap 44.  There were two consecutive cautions that took place with 44 laps complete.  With six to go on the restart Arms would be the car to beat as Francis trying to fight off James for second.  Arms would take his number 4 entry to the finish to score the $10,000 win.  Francis somehow held on for second despite his ill handling race car as James, Schlieper and Chris Combs would round out the top five.   In victory lane Arms seemed almost stunned to end up there as he first handled the SPEED Channel post race interview and then told the fans "It's been a bad year for us, I mean we'd be leading races and something would happen or we'd get caught up in somebody else's accident and take us out of a good finish, it's nice that the shoe is on the other foot sometimes like tonight where people had problems and we didn't."  Arms a successful modified driver before running a limited schedule in late models last year is competing in his first full year of late model racing.  "I mean to win this race is great and all the great cars that were here, we'll take it"   Completing the top ten were Jason Feger, John Blankenship, Earl Pearson, Jr., Dick Taylor and Jordan Bland.    In preliminary action Brian Birkhofer was the overall fastest qualifier in the Comp Cams Time Trials for the 78 entries on hand.  The six PBM Performance Products Heat Race Winners were Scott Bloomquist, Brian Birkhofer, Michael England, Earl Pearson, Jr., Don O'Neal and Dan Schlieper.  The Mason Racin' Rebel Shock Dyno First B-Main went to John Blankenship. the Penske Shocks Second B-Main was won by Steve Francis and the Mason Racin' Rebel Shock Dyno Third B-Main was taken by Randy Weaver.   The K&N Engineering "Clean Pass of the Race" went to Scott James who not only earned the Allstar Performance Performer of the race as he passed advanced 22 positions from his 25th starting spot to finish third.  The K&N Engineering "Clean Pass of the Race" was awarded at each Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series event in 2006.   The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Annual Awards Banquet will take place on Saturday Night, November 18 at the Marriott Hotel in Downtown Indianapolis.  For the latest information on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series you can visit the series' website at www.lucasdirt.com or call the Series office at (951) 532-2503.

CONCORD, NC (October 11, 2006)- Billy Moyer of Batesville, AR raced to his third Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win of 2006 as he captured the Jani-King Southern Showdown on Wednesday Night at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway. The 48 year old National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame member earned $10,000 for his first ever win at the Concord, NC facility. Moyer took the lead on the 20th lap from Mike Balzano and then went on to take the win in front of a capacity crowd. Moyer behind the wheel of his J&J Steel/Banner Valley Hauling/Petroff Towing/Karl Chevrolet/Watters Auto Land/Red Line Oil/Platinum Motors and RV's/McCarthy's One Hour Heating and Air/ Pro Power Engines/C.J. Rayburn Race Cars Monte Carlo. Shannon Babb of Moweaqua, IL would trail Moyer across the line in second in the Car City/J&J Steel/C.J. Rayburn Race Cars Monte Carlo. Current Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Points Leader, Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL came from his 12th starting position to finish third in the Carlton and Kemp Lamm/Lucas Oil Products/Dunn Benson Ford MasterSbilt Ford Fusion with Mike Balzano of Parkersburg, WV claiming fourth in his Biscotti's Restaurant/Polino Contracting/Rocket Monte Carlo and York, PA's Rick Eckert completed the top five in the Raye Vest Contracting/Cornett Engines/Rocket Ford Fusion. A total of 67 cars were entered in the event which was presented by Ferris Commercial Mowers. Larry Blankenship and Mike Balzano would win the draw from the top three in passing points in each of the six heat races as they would start on the front row of the 50 lap main event. The event rolled to green earlier that scheduled due to lightning in the distance and the increasing threat of rain. Balzano would take the point on the first lap with Blankenship, third starting Billy Moyer, Jackie Boggs and Shannon Babb the top five after one lap. The running order would stay the same for one circuit with Moyer passing Blankenship for the second spot on lap three. Babb would then go from fifth to third by the fourth circuit as he and Moyer were beginning to put some heat on Balzano. Moyer would go wheel to wheel with Balzano for two circuits with Balzano holding the lead at the scoring line. Rookie Damon Eller would make some early noise coming to fifth in the first part of the race and then advancing to fourth by lap eight. Blankenship who started on the pole would see his night end on lap nine when he slowed and collected Jackie Boggs, who had nowhere to go when Blankenship's car slowed on the backstretch. Both cars would be eliminated from the race. On the restart Balzano would again show the way leading Moyer, Babb, 10th place starter Donnie Moran and Eller in the chase for the lead. Balzano would start to get into lap traffic by lap 20 and that would allow both Moyer and Babb to close. On the 20th lap Moyer would pass Balzano and take over the lead with Balzano fighting back two laps later to go even with Moyer at the line. The third caution of the race fell on lap 22 for a slowed Mike Marlar that would set up another double file choose restart. Moyer with the inside row restart would sprint ahead of Balzano and start to stretch his lead by lap 28. At the 30 lap completed mark and with weather threatening Moyer held a five car length lead with Balzano and Babb duking it out for second. Moran was in fourth with Earl Pearson, Jr. now in the thick of things running in fifth after starting 12th. The fourth caution of the race for debris on lap 31 would set another showdown on the restart between Moyer and Balzano. Moyer again would gain the advantage heading into turn one with Balzano in second and Babb hot his heels. Babb would dive by Balzano on lap 37 to take second with Pearson coming along to get by Balzano. The fifth and final caution came on lap 42 for a stalled Jonathan Davenport on the front stretch that would then set up an eight lap shootout. Moyer and Babb would make up the front row on the restart with Moyer again showing his strength muscling his way to the point. Moyer would see Babb challenge him for a few laps but eventually would open enough breathing room that would land the Batesville, AK driver in victory lane for the first ever at The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway. Babb would finish second followed by Pearson, Balzano and Rick Eckert, who passed Moran with seven to go to claim the fifth finishing spot. In victory lane Moyer was complimentary of several people who helped out in the win "They did the track up real good here tonight, it was in good shape and we really could race on it." WOODSTOCK, GA (October 7, 2006)- Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN took the lead with eight laps remaining as he won his fourth Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout on Saturday Night.  It was Bloomquist ninth Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win of the season as the 42 year old National Dirt Late Model Hall of Famer took home a total of $20,000 for his win.  The event paid $15,000 to win and promoter Mike Swims offered a $5,000 bonus to any previous Shootout winner who could win the race.    Bloomquist would cross the line in first in his Miller Brothers Coal/Hawkeye Trucking/Allstar Performance/Sweet Mfg/Ohlins/K-B Carburetors/VP Racing Fuels/ Perry County Tire/Vic Hill Racing Engines/ self designed Bloomquist Race Cars Chevrolet.  Clint Smith of Senoia, GA made a late race charge to finish second in the JP Drilling/RaceTek Race Engines/GRT GTO.  Finishing third was 13th starting Ray Cook of Brasstown, NC in the Arvil Cook Investment Properties/Grover Engines/MasterSbilt Ford Fusion.  Completing the top five were Wendell Wallace in his J&J Steel/Gaerte Engines/ GRT GTO and pole-sitter Scott James of Lawrenceburg, IN in the Powell Motorsports/Jay Dickens Racing Engines/Rocket GTO. Completing the top ten were Frank Ingram, Shannon Babb, Matt Miller, Jake Knowles and Mark Douglas.   Scott James and Shannon Babb started on the front row of the 50 lapper with Babb seeking to make it three straight Dixie Shootout victories grabbing the point at the start of the race.  James would fall in behind Babb and follow in his tire tracks as Jake Knowles, Bloomquist and Michael England would be the top five drivers after one lap was scored.  Bloomquist, who started third on the grid made a move around the youngster Knowles to take third on the second lap.   The first three of Babb, James and Bloomquist would start to put some space between themselves and the rest of the field.  Mark Douglas would join the top five on lap four getting past England for that spot.  Babb was able to keep a one to two car length lead over James with Bloomquist about three lengths back of James in third.  The top five would remain the same until eighth place starter Clint Smith started to make his charge to the front as he pass Douglas for fifth on lap 21.   At the halfway mark Babb was still showing the way eyeing the $5,000 bonus that was up for grabs if a previous Dixie Shootout winner could win the race.  Smith would get by Knowles on lap 25 for fourth and start to reel in the top three.  With 30 laps scored and no cautions Babb, James, Bloomquist and now Smith were dicing it out for the lead as the excitement level was increasing up front.  Bloomquist and Smith would race five laps side-by-side with Smith barely clearing Bloomquist at the scoring line on laps 31, 32 and 33, but Bloomquist would be scored back in third on lap 34.   Bloomquist charged to the outside of James on lap 35 off turn four and made a bold bid to take over the lead from Babb when the first caution of the race came out for the stalled racer of Damon Eller.  On the Delaware double file restart Babb would be the leader with James and Bloomquist lined up side-by-side.  Once the action restarted Babb would be on the point but Bloomquist went to the top and made the pass on James for second on lap 37.  Bloomquist would then set his sights on race long leader Babb taking him on the outside coming off turn four on lap 42 to become the first driver to lead the field other than Babb. Smith would then jump from fourth to second on lap 43 going by both Babb and James.   Smith would then began searching for the fast line to catch Bloomquist as Ray Cook began to flex his muscle getting involved in the action up-front climbing to third on lap 44.  With five laps to go Bloomquist held a five car length lead over Smith, Cook, Babb and James and looked to be on his way to yet another victory in '06.  But with four laps to go Series Points leader, Earl Pearson, Jr. and Jake Knowles made contact which resulted in Pearson getting sideways in turn two and collecting several cars bringing out the second and final caution of the race.   On the restart Bloomquist would have two of the fastest cars over the last half of the race behind him lined up side-by-side as Smith and Cook would try one final challenge at stealing the win from Bloomquist.  On the restart Bloomquist would accelerate away from both Smith and Cook and quickly put distance between himself and the field. Smith would pick up the momentum and cut Bloomquists lead down to two lengths at the white flag but Bloomquist would navigate his own self designed chassis to the finish line first for his ninth Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series win of 2006.  In earning $20,000 total for his win Bloomquist has now won seven of the 15 races in dirt late model racing this year that have paid $20,000 or more to win.  Smith would finish second with Cook, former Shootout winner Wendell Wallace coming up from 10th to claim fourth and James would round out the top five.   In his fourth Lucas Oil Dixie Shootout Victory Lane, Bloomquist again laid claim yet another big money payoff.  "The track was real racy tonight and I just thought if we could a little closer to the front there we would have a good shot at winning."  "I was little worried there for a little because Babb and James were running real good, but our car really came into it there around the midway point of the race and I went to the top around those guys."  Standing in victory circle Bloomquist would have oil on his racing shoes as oil was starting to leak from the car during the race.  "Yes the brake pedal got a little slick there, I think we had a leak develop and I don't know how much oil we had left, but apparently it was just enough to get us the win."   In preliminary action for the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Jonathan Davenport was the Comp Cams Fast Qualifier at 14.725 seconds.  The PBM Performance Products Heat Race winners were Scott James, Michael England, Mark Douglas, Shannon Babb, Jake Knowles and Scott Bloomquist.  The Mason Racin' Rebel Shock Dyno First B-Main went to Donnie Moran and the Penske Shocks Second B-Main was won by Don O'Neal.   The K&N Engineering "Clean Pass of the Race" was awarded to Scott Bloomquist.
